Weight — stone is noticeably heavier than resin. Temperature — stone feels cool and stays cool; resin warms to your hand in seconds. Veining — real veining differs on every plate and runs through the material, so it looks different lit and unlit. Printed veining repeats and looks the same either way.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eDoes alabaster really glow?\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYes — that is the reason to choose it. The stone is translucent, so light travels through it and the whole shade lights up, veining included. The stone won't — every plate has its own veining, and with dozens on one fixture you can see that from across the room.
