Design & Materials
The drum is also ribbed down its full length, which does something a smooth curve cannot. Alabaster is translucent — light travels through the body of the stone — and fluting varies its thickness: thinner along each crest, thicker in each groove. Thin stone passes more light. So the curve is not only shaded but banded, bright lines running the full height with deeper tone between them.
Alabaster is a natural stone, so every piece carries its own veining and subtle variation in color. The fixture you receive may therefore differ slightly from the images shown.

Good to Know
Single or Column — which do I need?
Both are 4.7″ wide, so it is not a size question — it is a wall-shape question. Single (11″) for a bedside, a hallway, a pair beside a mirror. Column (33.7″) for a tall narrow wall or a stair. A sconce reads well at roughly a quarter to a third of the wall height, which puts the Column on an 8.5–11 ft wall. On a true double-height entry even the Column looks small — ask us and we'll build a longer one.
How do I know it's real stone and not resin?
Three checks on arrival. Weight — stone is noticeably heavier. Temperature — stone feels cool and stays cool; resin warms to your hand in seconds. Veining — real veining differs on every piece and runs through the material, so it looks different lit and unlit. Printed veining repeats and looks the same either way.
Will mine look like the photographs?
The shape will. The stone won't — every drum has its own veining. On the Column that is six different patterns on one wall, which is the point of real stone rather than a fault in it.
Why is the face curved instead of flat?
Because a flat panel can only glow evenly. A half-round shades itself — brightest where the stone faces you, softening toward each edge — so it reads as an object on the wall rather than a lit rectangle set into it.
And why is it fluted?
The ribs make the stone thinner at each crest and thicker in each groove, and thin stone passes more light. So the curve is banded as well as shaded — bright lines running its full height.
