Design & Materials
The Ellery Glass Cylinder Wall Sconce has no top. That is not a shortcut, it is the whole behaviour: heat leaves upward instead of building around the lamp, and a column of light escapes to wash the ceiling above the fixture. Closed shades push everything sideways and down. This one lights up, out, and back — three directions from one small lamp.
Beside a bed, either side of a mirror, down a hallway, or up a stair wall. Its footprint is shallow enough to clear a walkway, and because the light is diffuse rather than directional it does not throw the hard downward shadows that an overhead fixture puts on a face — which is exactly why a pair beside a mirror beats one light above it.

Good to Know
Which bulb should I use?
A clear filament candle bulb, E12, 2700K warm white. The glass is clear, so the bulb is meant to be seen — a frosted one behind it looks like a mistake. Buying a pair? Use the same bulb in both.
How high do I mount it?
Centre it 60–66″ from the floor in most rooms. Beside a bed, drop to 48–52″ — eye level sitting up to read.
How far apart beside a mirror?
28–40″ apart, with 6–8″ clear of the mirror edge. A pair either side beats one light above — side light has no downward shadow on a face.
One light or two?
One for a hallway, a stair or a nightstand. Two over a vanity, or anywhere the sconce is the main light rather than an addition.
Gold, black or nickel?
Gold turns the reflected light warm. Black holds as a defined shape against a pale wall. Nickel stays cool and quiet. Same size, same price.
