Hand-Blown Glass Pendant Light — Sphere-Within-a-Sphere Series
A pendant light for those who regard craft as the point — not the footnote. Each globe in the Sphere-Within-a-Sphere series is individually hand-blown using an intermittent pressure technique: air is introduced and withdrawn in controlled sequences as the glass matrix is alternately heated and rapidly cooled. The result is a distorted spherical form that contains an interior landscape of imploded satellite shapes, one of which houses a milky white frosted diffuser for the G4 light source. No two globes are identical. Available from a single pendant to a 61-head installation, this fixture scales from a bedside accent to a statement chandelier anchoring a grand foyer.

The Making of the Form
Most pendant lights begin with a silhouette sketched on paper. This one begins with a technique. The intermittent-pressure glass-blowing method used to produce each globe was developed specifically to avoid the predictability of conventional mold-blown forms. By alternating heat and rapid cooling cycles while controlling air pressure in short bursts, the glassmaker coaxes each sphere into a shape that could not be replicated exactly — not even by the same artisan on the same day. Inside each globe, a series of imploded secondary shapes forms naturally around a milky borosilicate diffuser, softening the G4 light source into an even ambient glow. LightExp sources these globes directly from the workshop, ensuring that color consistency across multi-head configurations is verified before shipment.
How and Where to Use It
Dining Room Statement
A 9-head or 16-head configuration hung centered above a marble or oak dining table creates a layered canopy of light rather than a single focal point. Position the bottom of the cluster 30–36 inches above the tabletop. The mixed transparent and color glass options work particularly well over natural stone or raw-edge wood surfaces, where the refracted color adds warmth without competing with the material's own texture. Living Room Accent or Centrepiece
A 3-head or 5-head cluster above a low travertine coffee table — paired with a linen sofa and matte ceramic accessories — keeps the room grounded while giving the eye a place to rest. For open-plan spaces, a 20-head or 28-head installation anchors the living zone without requiring a partition wall. The organic silhouette reads well against both white plaster ceilings and exposed concrete. Browse Design Inspiration & Ideas for room-specific arrangement references.
Grand Foyer or Double-Height Entry
The 37-head and 61-head configurations are designed with volume in mind — spaces with 12–16 ft ceilings where a single-tier fixture would appear undersized. Maintain a minimum 7.5 ft clearance from the floor to the bottom of the cluster. The dense globe arrangement creates a sense of depth and enclosure that makes high-ceiling entries feel considered rather than hollow. Frequently Asked Questions
How difficult is the installation, and what tools are required?
Installation follows a standard hardwired ceiling pendant process: mount the canopy bracket to a junction box, connect the color-coded wires, tuck cables into the canopy, and secure. Basic tools — a voltage tester, wire stripper, screwdriver, and step ladder — are sufficient for most configurations. For large multi-head chandeliers (20 heads and above), two people are recommended to manage the weight and wire routing safely.
What bulbs are compatible, and does this fixture support dimming?
This fixture uses a G4 base and is compatible with G4 LED bulbs (recommended: 12V, up to 5W per head) or G4 xenon bulbs (12V, max 20W per head). Dimming is supported when dimmable G4 LED bulbs are installed and used with a compatible leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmer switch — the fixture itself does not include a built-in dimmer.
How do I confirm the right size for my room?
For rooms, add the width (ft) and length (ft) of the space — the sum gives you the recommended chandelier diameter in inches. For dining tables, choose a cluster diameter that is roughly half to two-thirds the table width, or at least 12 inches narrower than the table's narrowest side. Individual globe sizes and cluster diameters per configuration are listed in the Specifications table above.
How do I clean and maintain the glass globes?
Wipe each globe with a dry or lightly dampened lint-free microfiber cloth. Avoid ammonia-based glass cleaners, abrasive pads, or high-pressure water — the internal diffuser and hand-blown surface can be sensitive to harsh chemicals. For multi-head chandeliers, always switch off and allow the bulbs to cool fully before cleaning.
What is the shipping timeline and how is the fixture packaged?
Each fixture is built to order and requires 5–10 business days of production before shipment. Globes are individually wrapped and packed in divided foam inserts; the metal canopy and hardware are bagged separately in the same carton. You will receive a tracking number once the order leaves the workshop.
What are the return and warranty terms?
Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery, provided the fixture has not been installed and is returned in its original packaging. The electrical components carry a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects; glass globes are covered for defects present at the time of delivery. For multi-head orders, all units must be returned together — partial returns are not accepted for a single order. Contact the LightExp team to initiate a return or warranty claim.
What's in the Box
Each order includes the glass globe(s), metal canopy, mounting bracket, pre-wired pendant cord (150 cm / 59 in per drop), all canopy screws and wire nuts, and a printed installation guide. G4 bulbs are not included — they are sold separately so you can choose between standard xenon and dimmable LED options based on your preference and existing dimmer switch type.
